About Lagar de Baixo

Dirk Niepoort's enormous passion for the Baga caste and the fantastic "terroir" of the Bairrada region led him to look over the last three years for small plots of Berry in very old vineyards scattered around the Cantanhede area. These wines were light in color and alcoholic, elegant and fine, just after bottling, but with a huge potential for aging. In 2012, with the acquisition of Quinta de Baixo, it was possible to recreate the Lagar de Baixo brand with a classic profile and to dignify the nobility of the Baga variety in Bairrada. The Lagar de Baixo Tinto is the result of the junction of very old vines with younger vines: a complex and serious red, but with some youth and claw.
