The Vintage Port
maintains the tradition of Niepoort to create balanced ports with great
concentration, being both fine and delicate. At Niepoort we believe that we
have been able to produce a Vintage Port that can last for decades. Vintage
spends about 2 years in large casks and then is bottled. The magic of the
Vintage Port is different in each phase: while young wine it retains the
character of the young fruits; after 20 years or more, the effects of slow
bottle aging are revealed. In the mouth is sweet, which combines with its
strong structure. The tannins are firm and long, but the set evidences balance.
The Vintage Port should be decanted. It is perfect to accompany with Cheese of
the Serra, Stilton or other blue cheese and with desserts with eggs, such as
"pão de ló".
