About Caracolete (Bairrada)

Quinta de Baixo is located in the parish of Cordinhã, municipality of Cantanhede and was established almost twenty years ago. It has an excellent terroir for the Baga varietal, with its calcareous clay soils. The 22 hectares of vineyards are divided into three estates with ages ranging from 10 to 80 years, located in the famous triangle: Cordinhã, Ourentã, Cantanhede, a region of great aptitude and recognized for Bairrada winegrowing. The fact that the wine cellar is located on the side of a hill allows the process of vinification to be carried out by gravity. This region has softly undulating sunny hills, calcareous clay south-facing soils, the best habitat for the Baga grape variety, which is the basis of our Quinta de Baixo wines.
